A Reputation for Quality and Reliability
Building Since 1981
The Sacramento Business Journal has ranked us among the region’s “Top 25 general contractors”
From the Forests to the Sea — Serving California, Nevada, and Washington.
At Sequoia Pacific Builders, we specialize in building retail, restaurant, financial, and office projects for a wide variety of clients. We are based just outside of Sacramento, and we have the capabilities to work on projects throughout the Golden State and beyond.
We have earned a reputation for quality and reliability in all aspects of construction, including budgeting, scheduling, safety, and quality control. Our high ethical standards have manifested themselves in many ways, including client and employee loyalty. Some of our clients and employees have been with us for decades. We are also always eager to forge new partnerships and continually bring on new talent to stay current and experienced in the latest technologies. Sequoia Pacific Builders is proudly family owned and operated, and we view each client and employee as an important part of our team.
In construction, value is a combination of understanding a project, being cognizant of the project owner’s goals, having deep relationships with subcontractors, hitting deadlines, maintaining budgets, and communicating openly. Our founder, Chris Eatough, is also a licensed architect, allowing him to contribute an additional layer of insight and another element of value.
How We Began and Evolved
Ronald Reagan was in his first term as president in September 1981, when Chris Eatough founded Sequoia Pacific Builders. An architectural student at the time, Chris fervently believed that a construction contracting enterprise should have a firm foundation in architectural conventions.
On that basis, Sequoia Pacific Builders steadily grew and thrived by demonstrating expertise in project planning, estimating, management, and execution. Four decades later, Sequoia Pacific Builders remains dedicated to excellence.
We’ve always been competitive, in pricing and in spirit. We didn’t enter the construction field to be simply adequate. All of us at Sequoia Pacific Builders strive to be the best at what we do. That’s what brought each of us here, and that’s what motivates us each and every day.
Our passion for competitiveness extends into the community, through our recurrent sponsorships of local youth sports teams.
We Build Value
Chris Eatough, President and CEO
Chris Eatough has guided Sequoia Pacific Builders, Inc. since September 1981, when he founded the company in Roseville, California. A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he obtained a degree in architecture, Chris also co-founded Eatough & Borges Architects with a classmate in 1984. The two businesses complemented each other during the ensuing 14 years, and Chris sold his interest in the architectural firm in 1998 to focus solely on the growing construction business. Chris makes a point of being accessible to all of Sequoia Pacific’s clientele and employees. He meets regularly with current and prospective clients, lending his architectural expertise as needed, and he remains involved with all day-to-day activities of the company.
Nyle Keller, Controller
Nyle Keller already had 25 years of accounting, budgeting, and financial management experience by the time he joined Sequoia Pacific Builders in 2007. He previously had been Chief Financial Officer and Controller for Granite Bay Holdings and Panattoni Construction. At Sequoia Pacific, Nyle carefully reviews all in-progress work, analyzing budgets, percentage of completion, and construction job cost maintenance. He also supervises the office accounting staff. Nyle, who has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix, also teaches financial accounting and managerial accounting courses for all University of Phoenix campuses in Northern California.
Dario DeBernardi, Estimator and Project Manager
In his dual role as Chief Estimator and one of the company’s Project Managers, Dario oversees conceptual budgeting as well as hard-bid estimating on projects of all sizes while also working closely with the company’s select subcontractors. On awarded projects, he works hand-in-hand with subcontractors, reviewing budgets and schedules to guarantee that each job is completed within budget and that each customer’s expectations are exceeded.
