On September 22, 1981, Chris founded Sequoia Pacific Builders, Inc. Shortly after establishing Sequoia Pacific, Inc., he graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Architecture and moved back to Roseville to grow the company. In 1984, Chris co-founded Eatough & Borges Architects, an architectural firm also based in Roseville, and, over the next 14 years, successfully developed and expanded both businesses. Chris eventually decided to focus solely on construction and in 1998 sold his interest in the architectural firm. Sequoia Pacific Builders, Inc. has grown dramatically over the last 31 years but has remained true to the values upon which it was founded. From the very beginning, Chris insisted on offering his customers detailed, personalized service. Still today, Chris makes a point of being accessible to all of the companyís clientele. He regularly meets with both current and prospective clients, is often asked to lend his architectural expertise, and is involved with all the day-to-day activity of the company.

As Sequoia Pacificís President, Jay heads the project management team, oversees superintendents, and works closely with customers. Standing by clients from the planning stages through project completion, Jay assists customers with budget pricing, lends his value engineering experience as needed (he holds a degree in Construction Engineering Management from Oregon State University), upholds the companyís high quality standards, and ensures that all jobs are completed expertly and efficiently. Jay has been a part of the Sequoia Pacific team since 2001 and has supervised construction projects for nearly thirty years. Outside of the office, he is a longtime member and former president of the Carmichael Rotary Club and serves as the chair of the San Juan Unified School District Facilities, Transportation, and Finance Committee.

NYLE KELLER - Controller
Nyle joined the company in 2007, bringing with him more than 25 years of accounting, budgeting, and financial management experience. Nyle was previously employed by Granite Bay Holdings and Panattoni Construction, working as their Chief Financial Officer and Controller respectively for the previous 10 years. Nyle has a masterís degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and currently teaches financial accounting and managerial accounting courses for all of the University of Phoenix campuses in Northern California. At Sequoia Pacific, Nyle carefully reviews all in-progress work, analyzing budgets, percentage of completion, and construction job cost maintenance and supervises the office and accounting staff.

DARIO DEBERNARDI - Estimator / Project Manager
In his dual role as Estimator and one of the companyís three Project Managers, Dario oversees both conceptual budgeting as well as hard-bid estimating on projects of all sizes (ranging from $50,000 to $10,000,000) while also working closely with the companyís select subcontractors. Dario collects project bids, reviews each bid for accuracy, handles all bid documents, and coordinates each projectís specifications and plans. On awarded projects, he works hand-in-hand with subcontractors reviewing budgets and schedules to guarantee each job is completed within budget and that each customerís expectations are exceeded.

KIRK NELSON - Project Manager
Kirk has been with Sequoia Pacific for more than 17 years and currently serves not only as the Project Manager but also as the Safety Coordinator and the Operations Manager for Concrete & Framing. He has taken courses in inspection training, lift equipment safety, and fall protection, among others, and has more than 20 years of experience as a professional manager and a licensed general contractor. A deft supervisor, Kirk oversees jobs of all sizes (from small tenant improvements to ground-up construction of large-scale commercial buildings) and has the expertise to complete your project on time and within budget.

MELISSA MACCALLA - Director of Marketing
The newest member of Sequoia Pacific Builder's team, Melissa MacCalla handles client relations, business development, branding, advertising, and all other aspects of the companyís marketing. Before making the move back to her native Northern California and into the construction industry, Melissa worked in the marketing department of the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne, Australia, and spent five years as senior and web editor for a national magazine. Melissa has a bachelorís degree in Communications from UC Santa Barbara and a masterís in Communications and Publishing from the University of Melbourne.
